Big colourfull striped seating area in the middle of the room, cosy and tasteful interior, a big trendy bar and very friendly staff, all add to the charming ambiance found from the minute you step into Lof, the gourmet restaurant of Reylof hotel in Ghent. The atmosphere in the restaurant allowed us to feel at ease.
For our starter at the Lof restaurant, we tried the marinated tuna with avocado and cucumber.
The dish had an unexpected twist to the taste which made it a pure surprise for our tastebuds. It was a wonderful start of the dinner.
After our tuna starter, we chose for a classic … the famous Ghent’s stew, made with pork cheek’s, Westmalle beer, served with fries and a salad. If ever there is a food deserving the phrase “melts in your mouth” this is it. It was truly a delight.
For our desert we were told to try the tiramisu as we were guaranteed this was the best … and it was really very yummy. If there is one criticism I give, for me there was a bit too much meringue… but that is, of course, my opinion.
My final thoughts … GO! This was a diner to remember.
It gets a perfect 10 for all the elements … service, presentation, taste and leaving with the thought… here we come back! This is one of our favorite destination to dine.
